[Salon] Orgs claiming to rep AmJews back warrantless govt spying

From Robert Naiman on 9/25/2024

Look what our cousins are doing. Look who signed this letter. Look at the letterhead. Read the text of the letter. How many American Jews know that organizations claiming to represent American Jews are lobbying Congress to preserve unconstitutional government spying on Americans without a warrant? This is a basic Constitutional protection against the abuse of government power. And these same organizations lobby Congress to formally define "antisemitism" to include "boycotting illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank." Peace Now boycotts Israeli settlements in the West Bank. As recently as the Obama Administration, it was official U.S. government policy not to do anything to legitimize illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

How many American Jews know that organizations claiming to represent *all* American Jews [read the letter if you don't believe me!] are representing American Jews to Congress this way? How many American Jews would support this, if they had any meaningful say? But they don't. The policies of these organizations are not determined by a democratic mandate of American Jews. The policies of these organizations are determined by the neocon warmonger oligarchs who fund them. Ask anyone who used to work for the ADL and quit in protest of their smear campaigns against Americans who support Palestinian rights [I too was spied on by the ADL!] who the ADL is accountable to. And the ADL just played a key role in the CNN smear campaign against Rashida.

Support for unconstitutional warrantless government wiretapping is the American Jewish position on this issue? Really? Who first brought this unconstitutional abuse of government power to the attention of the American people? It wasn't Ed Snowden. It was Senator Ron Wyden, acting in his capacity as a Member of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Book 'em, Danno.
